As a public service to area churches and Christian organizations, WFRN sets aside a certain amount of time (and this webspace) for announcements of events which are of interest to all our listeners. The catagories are:
1. Church Events: This is a free event where a free-will offering may be taken
2. Community Events: This is a free event with no ticket charge. It may be a fund raiser with the proceeds going to a project within the community.
3. Community Service: Programs and services for which there is no charge for participation, such as homeless shelters, pregnancy centers, etc.

4 Paws Pantry offers free pet food to low income or those in financial need. The pantry is open the first Thursday of the month from 5-6:30pm and located at 907 Oakland Avenue in Elkhart. ***Accepting food donations during pantry hours at all Martin's Paw Marts.

The Salvation Army will begin its annual “Coats for Kids” collection on Sept.1. Donate a new or gently used winter weight coat in any size from infant to adult 4X to The Salvation Army, 1105 S Waugh St, Kokomo through October 19th(other locations available for drop off). Distribution will be Tuesday, October 30th, from 10 am to 7 pm at The Salvation Army Community Center, 1007 E Foster St, Kokomo. Liberty Bible Church will host a Women at Risk seminar entitled "Creating Circles of Protection and Beyond: One woman’s battle to provide safe places to heal from abuse, trafficking, exploitation, and more" featuring Rebecca McDonald, the president and founder of Women At Risk, International. The seminar is on Saturday, October 20 from 9 - 10:30 am at Liberty's Chesterton Campus in Room 130.Free coffee and muffins will be provided.

Tails and Trails:Fall Edition 5k dog walk begins at 10 am at the Syracuse Community Center. There will also be pet related vendors, snacks for both humans and canines, silent auction and a costume party. Proceeds will benefit the Syracuse-Wawasee Trails System. Alto Rd, Kokomo) is hosting an event to honor American veterans and active military personnel on November 10th , with a free Chili dinner a 5 pm, followed by a program at 6 pm, called “Flags of Freedom,” (A history of the American Flag) presented by Shelly Jones. We are inviting the public, veterans, & active military to attend and be thanked for their service to the United States of America.
